I believe everything is located within the servo housing right above the battery.
P.S. If your cruise isn't working, check the vacuum check valve first. It is a small 1 inch canister located by the fuel rail ( mine was on the passenger side). Mine wasn't working and I had no cruise. $4 to replace.

if you dont have that check valve the cruise control wont work at all? what if you hook it up to straight vaccum? jimbo you can get a rebuild cruise control at advanced auto for 50 bucks
The cruise control would not work on my (now gone) 86. The button on the end of the stalk (Coast) had failed. The button still moved in and out but the metal contact inside was stuck in the Coast position all the time. The only way I found this was by removing the digital dash cluster (not hard) and probing the contacts that come from the stalk for proper operation.
The cruise on my 86 wouldn't hold and was kinda on and off. I had just replaced all the vaccum lines so I knew that was ok. My fix happened as I was working on the headlight relays. On the drivers side behind the headlight in the pocket there is a large ball about 4-5" diameter with vaccum lines going to it. I think it's a reserve tank or something. Anyway, one of the lines was unplugged. I plugged it back and remounted the ball. Everything works great now.
The servo on the vette looks exactly like the one on a 85 GMC van I had, it had a module that went bad. I have an otc tool that hooks to the module, and lets you know all the inputs are working. I just have to find out where the module is, so I can hook this up. I've already checked all the vacuum connections, and all is well. :flag
The lightbox you are refering to will not work. Like I said, the controling circuts are built into the instrument cluster. There is no module like other custom cruise units.
