I have two '93's. A Ruby, and a "basic", no frills model. First, with documentation, determine whether the opti has been replaced, as well as plug wires, ignition module and water pump. Second, common to most I've seen of that year, check the door panels to see that they are solid. I've replaced door panels at big dollars, and I've tried to repair broken ones. Either way, large expense and hassle. Does it have FX3? If so, have the shocks been rebuilt? Do the actuators work. IE, is the FX3 functional? The steering column - is it solid? Does it dip down with a slight pull? There's a piece in the column that breaks, and has to be replaced. Again, major hassle. Is it a repaint? Take it from me. Repaints are potential problems if not done correctly. The speakers for the sound system commonly go out. Do all four function well? Has the heater core been replaced? Again, from one who has done it, you don't want to do it, or get it done. When were the plugs last done? The job is an inevitable one, but if someone has done #8 in the past 5,000 miles or so, it will save you some (temporary) pain. How is the weather stripping? $500 plus to replace.
Just some things to look at, in addition to the normal - compression, visual signs (smoke form exhaust, etc.), or curb rash on the wheels.
All that being said - as I mentioned earlier, I have two of them, and love them both. Fun, fun cars, and a wonderful hobby.
