I am in the process of getting all of the strawberry milkshake out of the trans. I dropped the pan and changed the filter. There was some sludge on the magnet, but nothing out of the ordinary.
So far, so good...
I am now flushing the fluid out. It is getting redder as I add more fluid and draining from the radiator line.
To get all of the fluid out, including the converter, does the trans need to idle in park or in drive to get all of it out?
Also, should the trans fluid be coming out completely clear and red or just opaque and red?

to flush out the whole system, including the converter, is to have it done by a specialized machine that many shops have. You will not be able to get it all changed doing it yourself. I think it runs about $100 but it only needs to be done rarely.
