Default Crossfire Upgrade Questions/Ideas

Hey guys, In a few months I'm planning to rebuild the engine in my '84, and in the process I'd like to increase the performance of my car. If I remember correctly, the original hp/tq numbers for this year Vette were 205hp/295ft-lbs, respectively.

My goal is 300+hp/400+ft-lbs tq (huge emphasis on torque)

Now, here are my parameters:
1. Because it's a Crossfire, and it's unique, I'd like to keep that system. No other type of EFI; so I'd be open to the X-Ram, Offy, etc, but not TPI, etc.
2. I'd like to keep all the smog, emissions, and digital dash functionality, but I'm open to tuning the ECM and or getting a new one.
3. It has to be a high-performance but enjoyable weekend driver with all the creature comforts (sound system, A/C, etc)

I'm looking for the cheapest way of getting to this goal (aren't we all ), so I'd like to keep as much of the original components as possible.

I know about porting the intake (very restrictive, I know), the heads (sucky, I've heard), and perhaps getting the TB's bored as well, but can I get to the numbers above, especially high torque, by porting/massaging the original components?

I'd appreciate any and all CONSTRUCTIVE suggestions on this topic.

400 foot lbs TQ. I say that requires more displacement.

heads cam intake TB's are all too restrictive. they all need to be addressed in one form or another. Nitrous at 125 HP spray helps many people get there fast.

This is what I did to my crossfire over the years. Not done yet.

previous crossfire vette. 350 cid, xram, 2.0 TB's, 454 injectors, edel rpm aluminum 64 cc heads, crane 2040 cam 210/216 @.05, crane roller rockers, ceramic hedman 1 5/8 headers, dual exhaust/crossover, hooker aero chambers, 7747. Innovative WB.
CHANGES COMPLETED 10/13/2004:
7.4L TB on Holley TBI manifold(Projection), Summit AC with K & N, Aeromotive FP reg, Comp Cams 224/230 @.05 114 LSA, Innovative input of tps/rpm/map data.
09/2005 fresh paint(red of course)
08/16/2006 added Prominator- 8746 ECU with EBL, IAT sensor being added following week.
05/2007 wired the WB controler to hide in glovebx with a digital A/F analog output gauge(blue)
06/2007 replaced stock wheels with chrome AFS ZR1 17x11 and 17 x 9.5
5/2008 finally hooked up the VAFPR and retuned
