Default Need help on resonator replacement or delete

On my 91' MN6 I have a B&B cat back and there are no cats. Can I get more power by replacing the single pipe setup and resonator with dual pipes. Also, can someone tell me If I can make the resonator from an LT1 work (if I understand right it is true dual). At this point I don't have headers in the budget right now. Not sure what to do. Below are pictures of my current setup. Oh yeah, there are no mods to the engine. Thanks in advance for any help.

Any self respecting exhaust shop can weld in an X-pipe or H-pipe for you. But check to make sure they won't throw a fit about not having those cats, some places here in Illinois have claimed (once the work is started) that it's illegal for them to let me leave without cats on my car, and then tried to charge me several hundred dollars to install some. Won't mention the name of the shop, but it starts with an "M" and ends with "eineke."

Thanks. Any thoughts on whether I will gain/loose power? I would think I will gain some power going to dual pipes from the single pipe.

As far as the AIR tubing running to the resonator, if I replace it with an X-pipe do I just re-route it to the X-pipe?

The one in your pic is not a resonator. It's the catalytic converter.
the air tube is directed to the cat converter not to the resonator.

If you remove the cat converter you don't need the air pipe. (no need to run the air pipe in the X pipe)
The dual system will free up the flow.

Thanks, well I guess that explains the air pipe, I was thinking this was a resonator like and LT Vette. Well I'll head over to the exhaust shop for a quote to make me an X-Pipe.

They might fabricate an x-pipe for you, but they will not install it as it is illegal for them to do so.
If you keep an eye on the parts section, I often see people selling their stock cat back systems after upgrading.

I may try running duals with just a cross-over pipe keeping the B&B mufflers.
