Thinking about Hooker super comp
I have an 85 and am thinking about getting a set of Super Comp. Header
Part #: 2151-1HKR
Anyone have these and what do you think? How do they fit?
Thanks, Mike

Very easy to install....excellent performance....I believe only one tube has a weld if any....my only change was to install a bung in the collector for the O2S.....Hooker puts it in the #7 tube and it will react to that cylinder only if you leave it that way

2151s come with no emissions provisions and no O2 bung, and are uncoated. You will need the coating and the O2 bung put in beforehand.

Hmmm my 2151s didn't come with the O2 sensor bung welded in. Also the Ceramic Coating from Hooker flaked off really quickly. See if ya can buy em without the coating and get em done somewhere. Other than that they fit and installed well. You will have to fab up an Alternator support bracket to brace the alternator from the rear.Pipe

yes, in fact you can put the drivers side in from the top. They used to be available w/no ceramic and have no 02 bung. I just looked at summit and they only show a ceramic coat version now.
*haven't looked in a while but, jet coating was offering them w/coat of choice and the 02 welded in for about the same money*

Once again the 2151's DO have an O2 bung in the #7 primary as you can see in this pic
I just put a plug in because I installed my O2 in m collector which is what I suggest, but the headers do come with a bung and could be used if someone chose to. And for what it's worth I think the coating from Hooker is actually pretty nice (take a look at the pics I've posted).

Melting Slicks
I went with the no emissions with O2 and the #7 primary location sent my wideband O2 off the charts after about 10 minutes of running.
So this project followed...
Original location
Drilled hole in collector
Weld in bung. Get one from auto parts store, the one hooker sent, albeit free, was junk and I didn't use it.
Paint to match. Glad I didn't go with ceramic...

Hooker 2151 headers are painted. Hooker 2151-1 headers are ceramic coated. Both, plus the 2149s, with full smog hookups, have 1 3/4" primary tubes. Headers with smaller primaries, especially with a mild 350 engine, will start to "work", provide more torque at a lower rpm with no sacrifice in the higher rpm power.

I am also running the 1 3/4 Hooker Super comps on my 406 bracket car. I moved O2 bung to the collector and plugged the #7 bung. Interesting to note that at Infineon Wed nite drags where mufflers are required (115 db max) I run a y pipe; 3" in diameter after the collectors and a 3 1/2" Y. The exhaust is open after that. The noise cancellation of the y pipe quiets the car enough to pass the noise requirements and probably increases torque too. Good enough for 10.58@125

The op has had 7 years. I think they're on now
