Just picked up a 84 for an extra car for the Kids(got it for 1,700 so they can have some fun),I have a 77 C3 and know very little about C4s,The tires and rims are in poor shape ,what options do I have?will any Early style rims work?I was offered a set of 15x7 with a 50/50 offset for a very reasonable price. Thanks Wayne
15" wheels are probably not going to clear the brake calipers. If they do, it will be close. The issue is the claiper clearance with the wheel center. Some 15's should clear the rotor. And finding appropriate tires (correct speed rating and the correct diameter) may be an issue.
The 84-87 wheel has a 38mm offset, 88 and later wheels use a 56mm offset. AFS Wheels (they sell on that online "bay" has a ZR-1 style wheel made for the 87-87 offset. The wheels are 17x9.5 and can use a 275/40-17 tire. They also have a 17x11 wheel for the rear that uses a 315/35-17 tire (stock ZR-1 size).
