Default Ok,SES light blinks as fast as a spark plug....

I have a 1985 Corvette.I cannot figure this thing out,and I need some direction, input from you master guru's.The car was running fine, and while driving along at 60 mph on a nice stretch of road,we drive past a parking area where a guy with a Ford Bronco decides he wants to race because those 38 inch tires a 351 with cherry bombs is gonna whoop up on the Vette........well it did not take long to lose him, matter of fact the car never had to shift into drive before he was gone.Good thing too, because right after the car had a miss in it.I pulled it in the garage, and pulled the plugs,Number 8 had no way to fire with the crap lodged in it.I changed the plugs, wires and it would start idle but will not rev at all,and it just backfires into the plenum when you hit it.I pulled the cap, rotor, changed that still the same.Guy I talked to about it says,"I will bet a six pack the ECM is bad".All right Sherlock, and changed the ECM,(not the prom),nada.... Still no 6 pack either.I pulled the Coil and the red and white wires are melted touching the coil,ok new coil, hook it up and hit the key it freakin'melted the wires on that too!!!!!!!!!.I read the instructions that came with the coil and it says I need a seperate ground from the coil body to the middle plug,ok,so I made one up hit it and I can watch the spark going to ground when the car is running.I pulled the ground from the plug started it up and can watch a wicked light show of constant spark.I pulled the rotor and replaced the ballast.I cannot see how an ignition module could do this or even a pick up coil and I have NOT replaced them but am I wrong to think this has to be an ignition problem that HAS to be within the distributor???????For the love of Christmas WHAT am I missing??????I started the car today for kicks and I had to go buy a battery,,the other was was flat only 2 years old too..........hmmmmmmm please help me get my mind back....what am I missing....???????????????

Your post is hard to read.

From my experience. SES light bling quickly when approaching the red zone just before shifting.
Nothing to worry about but it could be caused by bad sparks or bad spark wires. You might have a bad electric mass draining volts somewhere.

Sorry if it bothered you to read.Long story short,I have a problem with the car just falling flat on it's face when you try to accelerate.I checked fuel pressure it's 30 psi.I checked it key on it's 40,start it and let it run it's 30 no matter if you rev it(try to).I replaced the plugs, wires, ballast resistor, cap, rotor and coil.I also replaced the ECM,not the prom just the ecm too.The rapid blinking light is with the engine off, key on,or if it's idling,

My question is about the distributor. The coil I replaced had melted the three small wires coming out of it.I replaced it and it melted the coil wires the second I started it.I read that it was supposed to have a secondary ground from the coil body screw to the middle rear coil plug on the cap. There was not a ground there to begin with so I made one.If that is a ground, then why does it get continous spark on it?I am thinking I have something shorted in,on or under the distributor but what?I already got bit by just checking it to be sure it was tight (my fault)while it was running and it gave me a SOLID jolt.I dont get how it is getting spark at the ground....?????? I am sure this is the missfire but where do I look???

30 psi is too low when the engine is running. I would change the fuel filter and see if that helps.

Wires melt because they are carrying too much current. Something is shorted or not wired correctly.

Try putting spaces between your sentences.

30 psi is within spec for idle on a 1985

priming pressure is 34 - 39 psi on an '85, and at idle it will be approximately 8 psi below whatever your priming pressure turns out to be.

about the fuel pressure for an 85. Every coil I've bought for an HEI comes with a ground strap (just a little metal strap)! better read the directions.

Just curious what your alternator shows on the dash? How much is it charging?
