The guy at the parts counter @ GM (not the usual guy I deal with) couldn't find the injectors listed. Are they GM discontinued? I can't imagine that! Anyone have a current part number / price for the buggers?
Also, I've heard that there is someone out there who rebuilds & blueprints the injectors. Anyone know who / where etc? On that subject, does anyone have a set of original 87 injectors they'd like to sell to me as a core?
I know you won't want to hear this, but I'll say it anyways. :blueangel: The ford SVO injectors work very nicely, and are much cheaper. I don't know why, but they are and they do. :)
Whenever I switch out my stock injectors for higher ones, I'll give them to you. I think you can send them out to have them cleaned and BP'd for about $150.

Yup. I've read that here many times, was even joking with the guy at GM about it. :D I think they're 24 lb vs. our 21.7 or 21.8 lb flow.

Thank you thank you thank you!! :) :yesnod: :) So, do you know where I can send them to be overhauled? ~Juliet
I think I'd trust them to get the mechanicals & performance right-on too. :) As long as they can promise to return the same injectors as I send to them.... :p: I wonder though if Lars is into the injector scene? :seeya Lars, do you rebuild / blueprint injectors too?
TPiS can clean your injectors for $25.00 each or clean and blueprint for $35.00 each. hpfarm@tpis.com
Hmm.... $280 or $79.95. I know that LPE's price as quotd "Prices shown do not include filters, o-rings or pentel caps. ", but is it a $200.05 difference?
I have a set of L98 stock injectors sitting in my garage that worked perfect when I pulled them to put new engine in. I also have a set of 24Pound ones that didn't arrive in time (slow boat from chicago). I managed to get a set of 24# Accel from Jegs overnight that are in my car and work perfectly. You may have the L98's or I would sell you the Ford 24#s Bosch units from ELD in Crofton at a discount from what I paid for them.
Contact Rich at http://www.cruzinperformance.com I replaced mine with Accel injectors last summer and they work great. I think you will find out that the original injectors depending on what the symptoms are with your Vette...cannot be rebuilt...Plus a new set from Rich is only about $239.00~
Thanks Chris! :) You going to Jasper's Sunday with Corvette Annapolis? Hey Scorp - did you want the Ford injectors for you car? ;) I sent both you guys IMs. ~Juliet :seeya
Juliet, I've had Rich at Cruzinperformance do a set of Vette injectors a few years back. Turn around was a copla days, price for rebuild and flow test was $80. He can usually blue print them for $8/injector that needs to be mached.
That set all flowed to within 1% and cost me $80. I got his reference from the F-body guys and they all liked his work. Give him a call and see what you think.
Hey, this is my thread!! :blueangel: I get first dibs on the injectors! :jester I called Shotgun! :D
Thanks everyone. Once I get the details ironed out I'll be sending off someone's old set of injectors to get cleaned and probably blueprinted. :) I'm still trying to decide the pros and cons of that extra cost. :yesnod: With luck :) Victor Smiley :) will continue to run with his original ones until I can get a 'new to me' set overhauled and installed.
Speaking of installing them - does it take special tools? Greg was telling me that he thought I'd need some special GM tool to get them into the fuel rail.... Is this a pricey tool or a rentable (with depost) kind of thing I can borrow from Pep Boys or ??? Thanks! ~Juliet :seeya
Be careful when you "unlatch" the first one or two till you get onto it. Those locking tabs are somewhat fragile. I don't remember any problem gettting them back into the fuel rail and latching them though.
I've heard that a thin coating of a light oil or vaseline on the O-rings (or maybe on the injector holes in the intake base) will aid in inserting the injectors (on the fuel rail) back into the intake base. They need to be "worked" into position till the fuel rail can be bolted down.
I will bring the L98 injectors to Jaspers Brunch. Along with manifold and rail, to show you how easy it really is. a small screw driver or needle nose pliers works to spin the keeper around on the injector. Make sure you get the Oring kit for the fuel rail, as they are all dried inside rail. They are cheap too. i got mine from Lustines in college park. I will search for the part numbers peice of paper.
Somebody please tell me why you would spend 80 bucks to have them cleaned, have the O rings replaced, new inlet screens and pintle caps (my stock ones don't have the caps) on used injectors ? The main parts of the injector mechanism and coil never get replaced by this process. These are the parts that deterorate over time.
Juliet, OEM injectors from the dealer run about $95.00 each!!!
I keep saying to contact Rich at http://www.cruzinperformance.com ... He deals with high performance cars and injectors are something he is a true expert on. What kind of problems are you having? If the symptoms are rough idling and engine running erractically...i.e. missing badly, they cannot be rebuilt because the electrical windings are shot. Get an ohmeter and check the voltage...I think, but am not sure but the voltage should run in the 10-plus range. I put 21# Accel injectors in my 90 last summer and it has never run better...The Accel Injectors are of a better engineering design than the original Multec that are in your car....I would check with NCRS to find out the guidelines on originality as it relates to injectors.~ :seeya :seeya :seeya
