Default First fuel injection

Has anyone else put the First fuel injection unit on their motor? What are your impressions? Did you get the same results as seen on their dyno sheets? Just wondering if anyone else has run into issues.

I'm thinking about getting one. The price of all the pieces seperately are about the same and if you port the plenum and replace the TB you are way over the price of the unit. Doesn't seem like too many people have used them though.

Haven't dyno'd yet, but SOTP impressions are it's similar to the supperram it replaced. Seems like it has a bunch more tqe, although I suspect the superram will edge it out on hp #'s on the top end. The dyno #'s FIRST website shows are engine dyno #'s not RWHP. If ur looking for high hp numbers, I suspect you got the wrong intake. A TPI type intake will never make those numbers based on the design. The question should be are u happy with the way it performs on the street or strip? What heads and cam are u using? Are u running out of pull or is it just the numbers that ur dissatisfied with? Me, I don't need no steenkin numbers!! Tom

I've run both the StealthRam and FIRST on the same car (86 IROC).

Box Stock FIRST Injections intake - Best run in 80 degree temps 5800/5600 shift point. 3.23 gears & 26x11.5 ET Streets.

60ft------ 1/8 ET -----MPH ------ 1/4 ET ----- MPH
1.707 --- 7.992 ----- 85.526 --- 12.599 --- 106.702

The power band for this FIRST intake was about perfect for this combination (355 with 3.23 gears). It didn't feel like the car was dropping off in power up to 6000 rpm, but the ETs showed the car liked to be shifted at 5800 out of 1st (5600 rpm shift caused spinning into 2nd) and at 5600 coming out of 2nd gear. Porting the runners to 1.8 - 1.82" would improve on the time and mph.

STEALTHRAM - Best run in 80 degree temps 6400/6200 shift points. 3.23 gears & 26x11.5 ET Streets.
60ft------ 1/8 ET -----MPH ------ 1/4 ET ----- MPH
1.803 --- 8.133 ----- 86.37 ---- 12.673 --- 107.84

That StealthRam rolled off a lot of bottom end compared to the fully ported stock base and SLP runners. This FIRST unit isn't as violent as the ported stock base / SLP combination off idle, but it is a VERY happy medium between the two systems.

If I never raced the car, I'd stuck with the ported stock base and SLP runners (12.90s around 105mph),, super fun

If I raced the car more than I drove it on the street,, the HSR is hard to beat and near impossible to mess up a launch with enough heat in the tires. It was also easier to manage on the street.

However,,, while the FIRST was a little tricky to launch on the track and the street, it was just more fun to drive around. Much more midrange throttle response.

I had dynoed the HSR and it made 330RWHP at 5850RPM. I would estimate the FIRST wpuld have dynoed around 315RWHP but at a much lower 5300rpm based on the 5800/5600 rpm shift points.

I have half the First system and I'm currently putting down 370rwhp and 365rwtq with a 355 and 700R4. I'm running the factory plenum and SLP runners modified to fit the First intake.

With the my next mods I fully expect to exceed 400rwhp.

Those are exciting numbers for a 355! If I can use the first intake and get 370rwhp out of a 383 I will be happy
