The door lock on my 87 is getting extremely stiff. It's at the point now that I have a hard time turning the key to unlock the door.
How do I lubricate the cylinder properly and with what? I want to take care of this now so that I don't end up having it totally stuck in the spring when I put the car back on the road.
go to Home Depot or a place like that and get powdered graphite in a little tube. Squirt some in there, and gently rock it back and forth till it frees up.
If it doesn't free up, it's probably the plastic door rod holder broke because of age, and the rod is at a funny angle.
If that isn't it, you need to lube all the little points on the linkage behind the door panel.
Just hope it is the lock and graphite is all you need.
