Default Superram ???????

I thought they didnt make the super ram any more? what if i just bought the super ram not the whole kit what would i have to buy for it to get it work? It says theres one you can just bolt on to the stock manifold "not that i would do that".

I tried bolting my SR to the stock lower intake and it was a vacuum leak nightmare due to the tubes hitting the intake.

If I were you I would go with a MINI or FIRST or something else. If I ever have to take my SR back off I am selling it and getting something else.

You really need the entire package to get the performance out of it. See my thread. I have the complete package for sale now. Mstrs2

I ported the stock base and never had a problem with it. It probably doesn't flow as well as the Accel base but It should be adequate for a L98 with a few bolt ons.

If you do not want more RPM and just want torque then stay with the TPI and do other mods. The TPI has killer torque over the Super Ram. Go with a ported base and larger runners and there is a guy on here that does a killer job porting the upper intake.

You don't think it would be cheaper just to buy the FIRST set up?

The Superram is an underrated manifold..... in my opinion, you can make very good power with it and it will generate better et's & mph than any long tube runner set-up that I have seen or raced.

I have the FIRST intake, and, have previously had the Superram. I have not had my car dyno'd due to slipping trans in third, so my feelings are SOTP, take it for what it's worth. First off, changing the intake alone is not gonna get u anywhere. Tried that a few years back, when I bought my superram. With just headers, it felt like I lost low end tqe, compared to the stock TPI, but it did rev above 5500 rpm, too bad the stock cam couldn't take advantage of that I have since went to a 383 and 219 lpe cam with stock, heavily ported heads. The car ran great, but, I was dissatisfied with both the look and the hassle of superram dissambly, just to change out injectors.
The FIRST is like a TPI on steroids. It flows similar to a Superram, although I would suspect that the superram edges it out about 5200rpm and above. Picked up ALOT of low end tqe. "If" u are considering other mods along with the intake, are looking for a great street engine with a whole lot of tqe, and are not looking to be the numbers braggard alot of people are , FIRST may be what you're looking for. If your looking for numbers, go for the miniram and be done with it. Those high hp #'s are from ability to rev and in the upper rev band is where they are made. JMHO

My vote is that PerformanceParts is unable to fulfill an order
for the #74196 Accel Super-Ram Plenum And Runners.

If they can, then a purchaser might also want to buy the
following items to complement the SR plenum.

- 74197 Super-Ram Intake Base
- 74196G: Performance Gasket Kit
- 74200 Super-Ram Throttle Cable Bracket (SBC version)
- 74203 EGR Block-Off Plate (optional: use when not reinstalling EGR pipe)

.

I agree that it is a decent manifold BUT i DO NOT want to have to take it off and put it on again.
