I have never heard about a rear cooler or why it would be needed.

I have 10000 track miles, and my rear hasn't exploded in my 96.

although I know the C5's need one, but the C4's seem pretty good.

Common practice on road race / Nascar types where extended hi- speed running is done .
Keeps diff oil cool same as trans cooler does.

Although not really required, I am going to add it to my 64 Grand Sport since they had it to include the cooler mounted behind the rear window. My car has a 96 GS setup under it. So does anyone have a setup, I have seen it in the forum where the inlet was the fill plug and for the outlet they welded a bung in the case.

My concerns would be:
1) Diff fluid might be to heavy to flow through a cooler.
2) Are you going to put a pump in the line?

A pump is a requirement to make it work. MOCAL has a pump that will work.

Just a suggestion, toss a temp sensor at it first to see what is needed. It may run cool and you'll save yourself a lot of time and money. Or the temp data could help tell you what size and type of cooler you'll need.

good suggestion, however I am going to install it even though I probably do not need it. MOCAL pump would work since its made for pumping thick oil, will use a small cooler about 5 x 7" because it has to sit ontop of the car for authenticity. One setup welded two 3/8 FPT aluminum bungs in the case and used the filler plug for the temp guage. Again if anyone has a different setup pls let me know.

I've been considering this for a while. If anyone has any install pictures I'd love to see em.

with a on/off switch and a temp gauge no issues in the winter. There is some good info on the autocross/racing forum. I will request to end this discussion.
