Default "LO" or "142" on digital displpay

I have a '94 with an LT1 and it runs terrible. The analog gauges works fine but when the digital coolant display reads 142 or LO my car tries to cut out and die. Anybody else have a similar problem and/or solution.

Thanks,

John

I'm pretty far from an expert. but maybe a coolant temp sensor? Mine usually goes into closed loop a
little higher, like 150....

the only time I've seen LO is when the car's been sitting outside and it's very cold. It's just letting you know the coolant/oil is very cold, and you should take it easy. If it's displaying this during normal operation, you very may well have a temp sensor issue, as Shifter said. Maybe replacing it will fix the problem.

142 degrees sounds like the open loop/closed loop cross-over point. I don't know much about it in particular but you basicly have two modes of operation, (1) when the engine sensors are cold, the engine uses preset settings for gas/air mixture; (2) when the sensors and cat warm up, the engine switches over to reading the oxygen sensor and other sensors to set the gas/air mix. It sounds like the problem is in the sensors of one mode or the other. Somebody should be along soon that knows more about that than I do.

Sounds like you might need a '94 FSM Factory Service Manual to troubleshoot this issue and any future problems. I saw one for sale in the C4 parts section:
