I need to know if a switch for the passenger side window can be cleaned and/or repaired. Car is a 92 coupe. It works going down with the switch, but won't go back up. Drivers side works passenger window both up and down. Also will a later(94-96) switch work? I can find late model switches but not for the 92. All input is greatly appreciated.
Ecklers. That's where I got my drivers side window and door lock switches for a 92. They're a bit more pricey than Auto Zone or Advance Auto, but they usually have stuff the chains don't, and they still beat dealers prices even after shipping.

Reason: misspelled Advance
The switch can be cleaned. I took apart the drivers side and found lots of black gunk that was causing the contacts on the switch not to make a connection. It is actually a pretty simple mechanism.
Buy a can of electrical contact cleaner from the auto parts store. That will help clean the gunk out along with some q-tips.

Yup. Pulled my passenger side switch, pulled it apart and cleaned up the contacts. Very easy to on my '90.
Thanks! I checked Ecklers and I think the passenger side switch from them is discontinued. I did see one just now at the "Corvette Man" site but I think I will try to clean it first. I've done this on other cars before, I just wanted to know if anyone had been successful cleaning their switch. Sounds like it should be pretty easy.

This is a simple dianostic.....don't make the mistake I did by throwing money at switches. I road more than a year with not using the passenger side window. Got tired of it and took it to shop. They told me it was a bad motor. Replaced motor...two weeks later same problem.. so I said it must be a faulty drivers switch I replaced it myself and found out that it was simple to do. Still no results. so I decide to look at the passenger side switch myself.... Once I took door panael off, the window started working with the panel off...thats when I notice one loose wire barely hanging on. I believe this was the problem all along a loose connection So I tighten the connection and bam window works again
The lesson I learned was I wished I'd check the switch in the beginning.

What do you have to lose? The worst thing that could happen is it doesn't work and you will have to buy a new one.
Try www.vette2vette.com for a used one before you shell out money for a new one.
