that's my question, if someone knew where it was routed, then i can surgically remove it without groping for it all over the place, hey I'm not hell bent on it , if it was easy i'd do it or at least some of it....especially in the freaking messy dash area....
anyone know what the rear bulkhead is made out of? wood?
i am planning on a 4 channel amp and don't want to; but i think i have to; screw the amp to the bulkhead..... comments?
I struggled with the stock wires for a while, I tried to use just the wires with a new head unit and new speakers, but they are wired funny so I just routed all new wires. They share grounds and channel's per side.
I don't think it would be easy to remove the factory wires due to them being intertwined, that is, without removing the majority of the interior.
The rear bulk-head is fiberboard, there is plastic too on the sides.
How large is the amp? Maybe you can hide it somewhere.. When I redid my sterio I left the interior in and ran the new speaker wires down under the sill plates and used a coat hanger to fish it under the carpet and into the hole for the 6x9's, it's completely hidden, you'd never know it wasnt stock unless you started ripping stuff apart.
i had good experiences with rockford fosgate in the past, this was decades ago, but my research shows these 4 channel amps are just big... 11x16
i found the sony xplod xm-4s 9x8 that may fit under the drivers seat, and may go with that, i don't play loud, but i do appreciate quality and updated technology
If your looking for a small, powerful amp, look at the Alpine PDX series. Did you read the C4 sticky at the top of the Audio section? Lots of good info there.
