Hello to all. I was wondering if the install of a Manifold Absolute Pressure(MAP) sensor and the install of a Idle Air Control (IAC) valve was a straightforward process with each? It looks very simple. Two screws, gently pull up, and remove for the MAP, and unhook harness, put wrench on IAC and turn out. Are there any adjustments for either of these that needs to be made. If so, I'm heading to my Chevy dealer and paying the $100/hr for them to install. I thought someone once said something about the IAC had to have the "pintle"(?) adjusted to the same distance as the old one. Huh? I just installed a new shocks(KYBs), EGR, coil, and ICM, so I'm not a total dufuss, but I also want to do this right. I know, I know, buy the service manuals!!!! Many, many thanks to all. I'd be totally lost without these forums. Maybe someday I can contribute when someone else has a question(like how difficult it can be getting that lower power steering pump bracket bolt on when putting in a new coil and ICM!).
Do a search for ICA adjustment.....or visit CF member Vader's site. He has a pretty good write up on the IAC install adjustment. I'm not sure if if there is any difference between a '92 IAC and his '89 but like you said this is where the year specific FSM (Field Service Manual ~ $140 new) would be helpful. I did see a used set of FSM for a 92 for sale posted in the C4 Parts For Sale/Wanted section.
