No top gear or reverse

No top gear or reverse
1991 automatic
Original owner of the Vette with 92K miles. Driving on the intersate I lost top gear and after parking I found I also had no reverse. There is no tranns fluid leaking. All the other gears apear to be ok. I drove home using the lower gears, ony four miles. Anyone have an idea on what is wrong?

Buy oil pressure gauge and manual. Check pressure in all holes. Read diagnosis chart in manual. Sounds like valve body problem. Are transmission guys around? When did you change fluid last time?

If you're also missing 2nd (no reverse, 2nd, 4th) your problem is the sun shell. Either stripped the teeth out or it broke. Very common problem.

Bring it to shop, mechanics have families!
If your fluid is clear that means you don't need to remove transmission to fix it. Problem is in valve body or computer.
