If you are staying with the D44, it will work just fine with either the ZF6 or 700r4. The D44 has a longer snout than the D36 and that is when you need to change the driveline support.

I don't know much about the 4+3 but if it was/is a 27 spline output shaft you "might" be able to use the driveshaft "as is" without a slip-yoke change.

I'm curious! Is the 4+3 a 27 spline unit?

Yes, the transmissions are the same length - the same driveline support will bolt up if you are not swapping the differential.

I thought this question related to the "complete install" rather than just the C-beam! Sorry!

Still curious is the +3 a 27 spline unit and were you able to just use the driveshaft "as is"?

Yes
For some reason the stock auto yoke has a big balancer on it but I used the 4+3 shaft with my auto swap ; no probs.

27 spline yoke is common across GM products with
alum Glide / TH350 /T700/most manuals ,ex ZF6 which used 40 spline T400 yoke.

The ZF, TH400 and 4L80E are a 32 spline unit! An "exception" was what was called a TH375, really a TH400 with a 27 spline used in some "lighter duty" trucks.

I assumed the +3 was a 27 spline unit but "needed" to ask!
