Default Stall after warm and running lean

I am back again! I have the same issue with the car randomly stalling. It stalls after running very lean and wont restart. If I let it cool down for a while it will run again for a while. The ecm is warm, should this be!Possible problem here?I had this problem before and it went away for a week with no prob. Now its back. I am ready to go carb if I cant figure this out without spending another 1400 to mis diagnose the issue!Any carb/intake combo that will fit under the hood without hood mods??

I see you have an 88, best to post the year. I don't remember or didn't read your previous post. Have you scanned it, thrown any codes, replaced parts? 02 comes to mind, vacumn leaks, etc. From a post I started a couple yrs. ago, typically when an ECM starts going bad, or is bad most guys said their cars ran "pig rich". Have you had the ignition module tested? Warm is one thing, hot is another regarding the ECM.

Rick,Absolutely, let me give some info, this 88 has a 383 with all tpi,58mm tb,30lbs inj, ported runners burned chip. and emissions on this one!Mild cam and stock95 exhaust!I have had it scanned and all I was told was it is running lean when it stalls. The ecm is to put out 4.5 volts at wot and was only putting out 1.5 unless we wiggled the chip in the ecm.The shop thought that was the issue.so I cleaned up the ecm, chip and put dialectic grease on all and put back together. It ran great for week and now the same crap!Last night the ecm seemed warm to me when I pulled it out of the dash.I also had the exhaust worked on and the shop welded the o2 bung while it was installed.would the heat damaged this or is the o2 up to the heat?I am totally frustrated now and need some real help on this or need info to go Carbed

I doubt the 02 was damaged, simply because they'd have to let the weld cool down enough for them to install the 02. I'd still pull the ignition control module and have it tested. Autozone will check it for free. And you may want to check the ECM ground connection. Since cleaning connections and wiggling the chip seemed to help I'd concentrate on connections again, especially grounds.

what do you think about it cooling down for awhile and running fine?that is the part that blows me.Can electronics do that? I thought they typically fail not be intermittant.I wiggled and pulled the harness and chip with no avail last night.I will try the autozone thing tonight though.do they need the car or just the ecm!do you know. Thanks

Sorry, I meant to have the ignition control module checked by autozone, easy to take out, just make sure they run it through 10 cycles. This is one component that starts showing its ugly head as it heats up. I don't think they can check an ECM.

What about the MAF .It does this stalling when warm, not cold.Could the Maf be absorbing heat or going bad? My engine builder suggested this as he had heard of similiar issue on another engine he built doing the same thing? What yall think??Could this lean it out and stall?? Dummy here ,remember!
