Hello to all.
I posted a thread almost a month and a half ago regarding what I thought was a fuel pump problem Thanks for all your advice, however my baby is still not working. I have recently come to the understanding that there is a problem with the connections between the ECM and the ALDL connector. So I replaced the ECM with a remanufactured one and still nothing. Now I have to replace the PROM chip and as most of you probably know GM has since discontinued parts for a 1991 Corvette. I've researched it and come to the conclusion that I must either get and aftermarket one or one from a salvage yard. The only aftermarket one I've found is The Hypertech Powerchip at http://www.mamotorworks.com/corvette-3-139-847.html What are your opinions on this chip and would it work like factory. Or should I just get a used one.
Thanks.
What happened to the PROM and Calpak from your Old ECM? Supposed to swap that over to the replacement, which (as you now know) doesn't come with them...
In any case - do you have the Calpak? You need that as well as the prom.
The Hypertec chip isn't significantly different from an OEM, just a few changes that really don't so much for you if it was increased Power you were looking for, but as a "replacement" for a stock chip it would be fine.
yeah i moved over the prom to the new ecm but not the cal pack would the new one come with one. And I was told that it was my prom because although it has a new ecm the genisys cannot connect to the computer to tell me whats wrong with the car so they assume that the chip has gone bad.

I'm having the same problem with my 91 corvette now. Someone replaced the factory chip with a hypertech chip but didn't save the old chip. Now I'm searching for a replacement because the hypertech chip isn't working properly. Is there any direct replacement chips on the market?
