Maybe, but even Jon suggest ohming them as a starting point, that only eliminates bad coils, the pressure test tells if there leaking, but not dirty. Usually were trying to diagnose a current problem, with injectors this is where we start.
Yes, the point I was trying to make was that it should not be used as the be all and end all of tests.
for cmbunch, scientific test, marketing hype is one thing, actuall experience from those who have experimented, tried and can actually verify significant positive results is much better.
It would be nicer if they could take a bunch of clogged injectors and run them with this in a tank and another set without anything in the tank and prove it really works.

the reason to ohm check the coil is to determine if the injector is good electrically. If the coil is shorted you can stop there. It has to be replaced. Nothing short of a replacement will fix that issue. After determining that the coils are good, you can try the cure in a can teqnique. However, there is a small filter in the top of the injector, so loosening all the crap in the lines and the tank will end up in the filter basket in the injector. Any chemical used would have to disolve the particles so they will pass through a 10 micron screen. I have seen filters just clogged with this sediment. IMO the stuff is nothing more than temporary and in the long run can cause more damage to the fuel system. Off the car service is the only way to restore the injector to like new status.

In your professional opinion, how often has that cure in a can worked and worked well? To me it is like trying to sweep a room in the dark. You are never sure if you got it all or just part of it.

aklim, let me put it this way. With mechanic in a can
sometimes you are the bird and sometimes you are the windshield.. maybe its my age but I never believed in cure in a can mechanics. I really have no experience in using anything. I just see the results in the injectors we get in for service. I have been doing this for 30 yrs, I can always tell the ones that used the solvents because of the crap in the filters. Again I know its a PIA but a full tune up at around 100,000 miles should include an off the car injector service. At the same time you can do a EGR valve and runner gaskets. Its a day of fun for you and your vette.
Hi I'm sure I seen a post to the effect that using injector cleaner in some cars,[my 93 was one of these] will harm the injectors. It would eat away at something in the injector causing problems. So I would be carefull, you might be doing more harm than you think if you use these put in the tank type cleaners a lot over time.

there is a service bullitin put out by AC Delco back in 96 telling their dealers not to use any fuel injector cleaners on the Rochester multec injector used in all gm lines from 89-93.. there is an epoxy seal insulating the fuel orfice from the coil housing.. The breakdown of this seal causes the coil to fail and short. This is the main problem with the multec as evidenced by many posts on multec failure. Lately it has been found out that the E10 ethonol additive in fuel today effects the injector the same way only it takes longer. IMO the multecs will all fail, eventually.
$120 for a set of 8 is a good price. I think I have heard of your outfit before but I couldn't remember the name.
Don't read the sticky's very often, do you. I don't either.
Pictures, especially videos, one can learn a lot (thanks to Jon at FIC). Afford yourself the time to view his videos, and learn of his generosity, knowledge and honesty. You'll be glad you did.

EDIT: Be sure to use the Sea Foam in a can, not the kind at the beach.
