Default Fuel Injector Cleaner?

What's the consensus on the best/strongest fuel injector cleaner that I can run through my gas tank?
Thanks.

chevron with techron, is all I use. make sre you use as recommended, meaning you following directions, and add the proper ratio.

I also like Techron, but prefer SeaFoam for a deeper cleaning. So if you're asking for the strongest....SeaFoam.

If you suspect injector problems, I would R&R them. I usually have injectors taken to a test facility and checked. I don't believe in "cleaner in a can" stuff or additives. To me, it is like sweeping a room in the dark. You never can be sure if you got it all or if there are other issues there.

Seafoam is the most amazing thing ever invented. Anything and everything. I never trusted anything in the transmission though. Other than that, it works for everything.

How can you tell without tests that the injectors are totally cleaned, half cleaned or not even cleaned? Lots of people spend money on a fart pipe and swear they can tell the difference in power. IMO, if the mileage is high enough, say over 100K, injectors should be removed and tested if problems are suspected. In fact, on my vehicles, I take them out every 100K for testing. On my diesel, I had 1 bad and 5 good. On my powerstroke, I changed them all because I was going with performance ones after 100K

For high mileage and serious problems, I agree that a full cleaning is the best way. But, if someone is simply trying to clean out their system a bit without spending a ton of money, a strong cleaner is the way to go.

For what they do and if you check your injectors between 100K and 150K, I don't think $200 qualifies as "a ton of money" especially when you consider that your injectors will now be both cleaned and you will know what they really flow at. Also it replaces the O-rings, filters and pintle caps

Hi Rick, been using SeaFoam for over five years in the Vette.
Also use it in my generators (South Florida). Tends to smooth out the idle and keep mpg high.

I drive the Vette 18000 to 20000 miles per year for over five years. It works.

Funny, we change oil at regular intervals, and other maintenance items, but most never consider build up in the fuel system,or carbon build up as a maintenance item. R&R of injectors on our earlier C4s is not what I'd call a maintenance item, and it's certainly not for the faint at heart. Even taking into consideration the down time.

I certainly prescribe to the "no cure all in a can" idea. But I can also testify to this. In WA. state we go through emmissions everyother yr., from previous experience with SeaFoam I always changed my oil and filters, ran a can of Seafoam through it and hit the testing......never failed accept once, when I was in a hurry and didn't bother. FAILED! went home did what I'd always done, retested and passed with flying colors.

Alot of this type of thing really depends alot on our driving habbits. If you're only using your car to go to the strip, no need for SeaFoam of Techron, but if you're limiting your driving to the grocery store, short trips and garage it during the rainy, winter months, I'd highly suggest it.

I've been using SeaFoam for over 15 yrs. and have seen some pretty convincing proof, even visual. I'll explain the visual if anyone is interested.

You know anyone around Madison that will/can do this correctly??? I'm not that gifted to take out my own injectors and send somewhere. [No hi-jack attempt, I swear!]

Are you gifted enough to ohm test and check fuel pressure?

$120 for a set of 8 is a good price. I think I have heard of your outfit before but I couldn't remember the name.

Not really. It has been so long since I took out the stock system that I don't even remember what it looks like. Now if you ask me about a Superram or a Holley Stealth Ram I could give you a more accurate picture of how to do it. With the stock system I would have to look around and fumble for a bit before I figured what is what. So, if you want to do it, do you have a warm place? The local shop I use to check the injectors is Diesel Injection Service. However they only do diesel injectors. FICInjectors name has been tossed around here quite a bit so I would think they are fairly decent. I can't say. Never used them before. Others may chime in. From what I read, they are very good.

Where are you at in Madison? I live on the east side behind the mall. So, here is a plan. I could bring stuff and get greasy for a couple of hours if you have a warm place to work. Take the injectors out on a Sun morning, send it out on Mon and order the necessary gaskets and by the time the weekend comes, you should have them injectors back and ready to be reinstalled. Like I said, I can't remember any more what they look like since the last time I worked on a stock L98 was back in 93. What gaskets to get I don't know. If you need my assistance, PM me.

I have a DVOM and a fuel pressure gauge.

I have had injectors that didn't leak, omhed nicely but the spray wasn't worth a crap so the Ohm test is only an indicator if the electronics are bad or not.

Maybe, but even Jon suggest ohming them as a starting point, that only eliminates bad coils, the pressure test tells if there leaking, but not dirty. Usually were trying to diagnose a current problem, with injectors this is where we start. I certainly believe that sonic cleansing (believe that's what Jon uses) is unsurpasable at this time. Parts (injectors) look new again. But SeaFoam starts in the fuel tank, cleansing the entire fuel train, plus helps remove carbon and laquer buildup, and not to many people pull their heads to remove carbon buildup. It also removes condensation in the tank. NO, it's certainly not a cure all, but many people on this forum have raved about the results. Unless you have Multec injectors no harm will come from SeaFoam, costing $6-7.00, or Techron, same cost. Now that's a pretty cheap answer to.....does this really work?

For your benefit and others I'm starting a poll.

Lol, I was thinking about telling the average person to pull their plenum and runners off and remove their injectors when most barely know what an alternator looks like.

Seafoam works very well. It is a good precautionary method. Throw a can in the tank every oil change. However any implied difference in any major Fuel injection cleaner is purely speculation unless someone is going to post a link to a scientific test.

for cmbunch, scientific test, marketing hype is one thing, actuall experience from those who have experimented, tried and can actually verify significant positive results is much better.
