Anyone ever herd of this

Seems like a weird approach for a tpi intake

They say this was ran on firehawks for a few years.

And apparently a fire destroyed the molds to them causing only 200 to be built

I think it's an old rule. At least I've done it with no repercussions

I've seen that intake before and knew it was rare, but I didn't think it was $2k rare!

That intake was only made available for the 1991/1992 Firebird Firehawk. It's very rare as it is rumored there were only about 200 made.

Its called the "t-ram". I believe it was only available on the '91 firebird firehawks. The plant with the molds burned down, stopping production.

Unless you insist on having an item strictly for it's possible collectors value, or because its rare I would say go with ANOTHER intake manifold. Several out there that are excellent alternatives. Not to mention, you can probably get a custom sheet-metal intake made for that price.

I had some questions like those listed below and did some searching. I found some interesting info but no all questions answered.

What's the theory and intended benefits of the design?

How does it differ from a SuperRam design?

Are the removable covers for access to engine valve covers or other parts underneath or do they serve another access pupose to the inside of the intake?

Someone posted a nice comparison thread of the T-Ram compared to the other types of intakes, and what I got out of it was that the T-Ram wasn't as good of a performer as the Super Ram. It has Super Ram reminiscent type of performance characteristics, with slightly lower flow and output numbers.

NOW, there maybe some that argue that it's better, but other than the rarity of it I'd keep my $2,000.00 that most people are asking for them. Every once in awhile someone on one of the various forums or on FleaBay try to ditch one for the $2K price but I've never heard of anyone buying one, nor anyone praising it's performance.

Just my HUMBLE $0.02

I looked up the old comparison thread when I was researching this intake and here's what I found the first time around. I'll just paste the meat of the primary post, rather than a link:

TPI shootout in Feb Super Rod magazine

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Super Rod did a decent TPI shootout in their Feb. issue. It has:

Stock TPI (410hp, 500lb-ft)
Edelbrock High-Flo (431hp, 501lb-ft)
Extrude Hone base & LTR (451hp, 534lb-ft)
TPIS Big Mouth System (460hp, 534lb-ft)
ASM Siamesed Runners (464hp, 510lb-ft)
SLP T-Ram (466hp, 495lb-ft)
Accel SR (480hp, 506lb-ft)
Holley single plane (493hp, 480lb-ft)
HSR (501hp, 493lb-ft)
MR (505hp, 471lb-ft)

The engine was a 10:1 383 with Trick Flow heads and the Comp XR288HR (236/242, .520/.540)

The article is mssing a few things that I would have liked to have seen. They used different size TB's for a number of the tests and the cam is better suited for the short runner stuff. All of the combos made decent power though. I would have liked to have seen a RPM Air Gap and properly sized carb tested as well.

AFAIC, the HSR is the winner as far as numbers:$. And i'm a SR guy, lol.

If you want the RPMs and graphs you'll have to buy the mag.

It would be nice if this thread could manage not to turn into a massive cluster **** of stupidity and ignorance

I hope this helps!

The runner design simulates or is clost to the same as an LS1 intake. You should read the comparisons about them...the intake did really well..but not as well as the mini.

the post above me is from the article.
