Double roller vs Single roller Timing sets ?
Does anyone out there make a single roller timing set thats extremely strong billet steel etc etc that can compare to a double?
I've read a few interesting articles on how much hp a double can cost + they are usually a bit heavier. The only other reason I'm looking into a single is because I want to use a reluctor wheel that one person is designing and another company claims to produce that will allow me to get rid of the rear mount distributor by having a reluctor wheel mounted to the crank sprocket.

What difference (if any) do double vs single chain sets have fitting under the timing cover. (One description on a double-roller cam said "Will not fit under factory cover").

If the same materials are used (ie billet gears, IWIS chains ect) a double roller will always be stronger because it has twice as many links and twice as much surface contact area on the sprockets.
I've never seen a real high quality single roller (bicycle chain as we call them) for the SBC. I have used the Melling and Dyna Gear stock replacement single roller chain sets on mild street car motors but if they have anywhere near 400lbs of open valve spring pressure (like a few bracket racing motors I tried them in) those chains were streched pretty bad when I removed them...
The best double roller timing sets I've ever used are the Australian Roll Masters. They are private lable for a lot of companies here in the US. You will have to grind a bit on the front cover of an LTX to put one in.

As for getting rid of the rear mounted dizzy, since I seem to rember you are running DFI, so you can always put a front mount (on the pulley/balancer) crank trigger on it...
