Default 1993 Clutch Issue

Well,

I don't drive my 93 all that often anymore and about a month ago I got in to take it out and found that the clutch pedal went down to the floor.

Car ran fine and started but obviously it would not be put into gear. I let it run to see if it might "unstick" itself with some heat but nothing.

I don't have too much experience in changing the clutch master or slave cylinder so I wanted to get some thoughts on what the diagnosis might be.

My thoughts are now is that it is the slave that has gone and from what I can tell this isn't a rare occurrence on these cars.

Any help is appreciated.

Oh - car is obliviously a 93 with ZF6speed, stock clutch etc. with about 60k miles

Thanks in advance

Will

This symptom is often caused by lack of fluid in the clutch hydraulic system. Check the resorvoir under the ECU (it's under the hood, drivers side, next to the brake booster).

Make it easy on your self and read the section on clutch hydraulics here: http://www.zfdoc.com

After replacing everything twice in my car, make sure to use the correct fluid in the new master and slave. Also, just replace everything at once, it will save you some time.

If you need help, I am some what local to you, drop me a line.

You know - it didn't even occur to me to check the fluid because there wasn't anything under the car.

I've completed my own H/C jobs and full suspension work but the clutch system is foreign to me at this point.

I'll check the fluid and see what I have.

Randy - I'll let you know what I find and get in touch if I need some advice.

Thanks
