Looking at a MSD digital control box now. Anyone consider it a worth while upgrade with any perfromance increase at the upper RPM? Will it gain any Mph or decrease the ET at all in the 1/4mile?
I went with the HyperTech coil/cap/rotor for simplicity; though not cap discharge like the MSD, combined with cut back ground electrodes gave me another MPH in trap speed. Also, I now get 31-32mph on the interstate compared with 28.5-29mpg when it was bone stock.
i think that with your mods it would really be worthwhile to think about a digital 6 box. Even more if youre gonna do something along the line of heads/cam/plenum modifications.
Generally speaking, the MSD box does not add any HP.
It also wont do anything for upper RPM as far as multiple sparks. The coil cann't charge up quick enough to provide multiple sparks at some threshold. I forget if it 4000 or 5000 rpm.
However, it will help smooth out idle (at least for me).
They are very useful if you need timing adjustments or rpm limiting like in sprayed or SC applications.
I already have the MSD coil, so will that help charge faster for upper RPM?
Maybe I should save the money and just get the edlebrock intake runner combo? If it doesn't make the car look better or run faster, not sure I want those types of parts yet :D
I have the 52MM TB, ported the EGR wall in the plenum and did the coolant bypass, but other than that, my TPI setup is stock. Wont be doing any internal mods or head tell the engine craps out and I get a new one. (high miles but still very strong) Don't think internal mods are good for high milers.
