Two, things, you said you used a test light on the injectors....what type of light did you use? a normal circuit test light will NOT work! it takes a noid light! I know jfb knows a helleva lot more than I do when it comes to testing circuits, what I'd like to know is where he found the information about using the low side lamp for testing? it's just a question, no challenge.
You right on the lamp because if the resistance of the test lamp is to low the PCM might not be capable of driving it and can divert all the current thru the lamp thus leaving none for the injector to operate.
I needed a nod lamp one day right then and did not want to leave the house and go out. I had a had a bag of different color LEDs which I believe were 5 volt units. I decided to try one out and it worked good. Since the duty cycle of the pulse is so short I was not worried about the voltage to the LED and blowing it. (You would be surprised how much over voltage a 5 volt LED can tolerate).
Polarity does count when connecting as LED. It has to be connected correctly or it will never night. It actually all worked out real well, any color I wanted.
