Default Newbies with an '88

We have recently purchased our dream car. 1988 Corvette coupe with 68,000 original miles. We know absolutely nothing at this point, but will learn! Our engine temp runs at about 215-235 all the time. This is ok or too high? Read some threads where they suggested changing the sensor to turn the fan on at a certain temp. Can anyone explain this to us?

The temp your describing sounds normal for a stock set. You may want to pick up a FSM (Factory Service Manual) for your year vette. You may not need it now but you will eventually if you hang onto the car. New reprinted FSM run about $130 +tax+shipping. Sometimes you can find good "used" FSM set in the C4 Parts for sale section for cheap.

Your temps seem ok for stop and go driving but a little high for highway driving. My '89 coupe runs about 185-195 at 60+mph this time of year where the outside temps are around 65-70 degrees.

Factory service manuals are a must! additional tools you'll want to pickup are a digital voltage ohm meter and a fuel pressure guage.

As far as the temps go, I think there a little high for this time of the year! 2 things, check between the radiator and condensor for debris, these cars suck up everything! And read the tech tips, there is a write in there on how to do you rfans, I did mine and I'm very happy, my 87 never gets over 205 in stop and go summer months.
