Default Another PKE question

My passive entry works fine. I can turn it on and off OK too. My question is; when the passive entry is off and I manually lock the doors with one of the inside door switches, when I press the door unlock button on the keyring switch, only the passenger door unlocks. I have to unlock the driver side with the key. Is this normal? I looked in the manual and here also about changing which door unlocks. It said to "put the key in the ignition but don't turn it on. Press & hold the unlock button to select which door to unlock." The only thing that happens when I tried this is, the door locks cycle and it just turns the passive entry feature on or off. How do you "select" which door unlocks with the button when the passive feature is OFF? I would like to be able to unlock both doors with the button when the passive feature is off. Is this possible?

The procedure given for door opening selection is correct. Could you be putting the key in the "ACC" position?

When the system is inactive the door button will open the pass/door & the hatch (coupe).

Try giggling the key around after you insert it.

Turn the system on, with key out of ignition. After it is "on" then insert the key in ignition & see if it works?

The key does not have to be in the ignition to activate the system

Tried all of the above suggestions. It doesn't seem to make any difference whether I have the key in the ignition or not. Even tried it with the Acc. position on, and the only thing that happens is the Passive entry toggles on or off, just like it does when I'm standing outside the car. Both doors open & lock with the PKE active just like they are supposed to. But I can only unlock the pass. door(and pop the hatch) with the button when the PKE feature is off. I thought you could program the button to unlock both doors when the passive feature was off. You know, just walk up and push the button and they would both unlock, like they do automatically when the system is active.

Your system is working correctly. You cannot program the fob to open both doors when the system is "off". It was not designed to work that way. No idea why

I thought you were having a problem programming doors with system active.

Thanks..Nice to know that is the way it is suposed to be. The book was a little vauge about programming the door. I thought it gave you a choice of what you wanted it to unlock when the Passive was off. It's really not a problem, I was more curious about the possible options than anything else.
