My A.I.R. (smog) pump has been making noise, howling at start up for a while. The local vette guy said "yea, it's your smog pump". So, I bought an A1 Cardone rebuilt unit and just installed it. It's making noise, though not as bad as the old one, but still whining off and on. I wouldn't think that a noise like that is normal. What is the experience you guys have had? My Vette is a 92 coupe LT1 auto. It runs great otherwise, lots of power.
I got my pump at Advance Auto and it came with a Lifetime warrenty for about $60.00. It also had a note with it that said it may make noise for the first 100 miles. This is the first time I have ever seen a note like this with a pump but it was there so I just thought I would mention it. WW
WW7, is that the pulley driven pump or the electric one? Electric pumps seem to run a lot more expensive than that.
Its the pulley driven on a 89. I couldn't believe they were that cheap either. I was going to delete the pump and use a kit, but when I saw the price of this pump with a lifetime warranty I figured why not keep it stock for a lot less money.I didn't know a 92 took a different type pump...WW
