Default wiring help

I am installing a autostart and keyless entry on a 87 coupe. I am trying to bypass vats. The wires do not match the diagram I have. I am currently looking for the alarm bypass wire which is supposed to be green and in the kick panel. I looked and its not there. Does anyone know what color the alarm bypass wire is or offer some assistance. I can get the car to autostart but only when the key is in the ignition. Thank guys.

I'm pretty sure your going to need a VATS bypass module in order for the auto start to work without the key in ignition. The green wire you are looking for, is to disarm the forced entry alarm, not VATS.

Check out Bulldog, they have some info.

On an 87 you can bypass VATS by connecting a resistor the same value as your key pellet across the wiring harness two wires that the 2 pin plug plugs into. The 2 pin plug has 2 wires coming down above the steering column. Unplug and connect the resistor across the socket on the wiring harness wires. Your vette is now easy to steal, just bash the column and jump the ignition, just like 99% of thefts are done.

You can get a bypass form most of the online catelogs. Here is a link to one from Zip Products:

You will need to know the code for your ignition key (1-15). Any GM parts department should be able to read the key and give you the resistance code.
