I've done some searching and can't find a clear answer as to how to get at the elusive torx bolt holding on the a/c bracket. Do I need to remove the belt tensioner to access it? And if so, is the tensioner just held on by the one bolt that is visible on the front. I am deleting the air pump asm and trying to get the metal air tube out...also for future info on replacing the water pump should that problem arise. Thanks.
As I recall, on my 86, I removed the tensioner by only removing the one bolt. The torx head bolt is location at the 6 o'clock position and to reach it you'll need a longish bit and align a notch with the head of the bolt. I recall the notch being in the compressor pulley.
Be sure to fully insert the bit into the head of the bolt so the bit won't slip, damaging the bolt's head. A replacement bolt is hard to find.
