Does it get worse with the heater on? It may be the heater core, and it might not smell if you have your anti freeze highly diluted. Otherwise it should smell sweet.
my sterrin rack is leaking but i dont know if this is the problem of the mist
I doubt it. It may be possible that the heater system failed and isn't keeping the hot anti-freeze out of the heater core. Thus when it gets in the core it steams out?
It is the heater core early stages of failure. Bypass it and see if it still does it. Do you have manual or auto controls. If auto heater opens and closes all the time except in hot weather.I used a small jar of Bars Stop Leak to fix mine but had to flush the core after I installed it so far so good. I am putting off the HC R&R as long as possible. Mine only misted once in a while but filled the cabin one time scared the crap outta me though it was on fire. Not much smell either.
If it were the heater core, wouldn't you notice a loss in coolant? On mine, with the AC running I get a frost on the inside of the windshield because the defroster flap inside the dash doesn't exactly seal.
You might be having a similar situation. Coming to a stop changes the vacum level, which could result in a the defroster flap moving around. Your problem could be weak flap actuator. With a loss of vacum, the flap reverts to defrost mode.
