Default 170 degree Thermostat

Anyone know the GM part # for a 170* thermostat for an '89 C4 coupe with an L98 engine??

I searched in an old thread and someone posted an old GM part# of 3053190 but this number is no longer a valid GM #.

I want a quality 170* themostat with an air bleed valve, or bypass hole in it, I'd rather not have to drill.

Tell me what you know part# wise. AC Delco #'s would be fine also.

Thanks.

I went with a 180 deg Robertshaw extra performance thermostat. The part number is 330-180. It has three 3/16 dia holes already drilled. Robertshaw is definitely a quality part. After replacing my stock radiator with a Dewitts, I rarely see the temperature get high enough to open the thermostat.

Thanks for the info, but I'm looking for a 170* stat because the ECM chip I'm running turns the fan on at 175*F and off at 165*F. I'm running a 160* hypertech stat now which is fine for the hot summer months when my vette sees most of it's use but not ideal for cold winter running. I recently also installed a DeWitts radiator but have yet to run in in the summer with the AC on full. For those of you thinking of going with a DeWitts radiator ~ Do It! it's a quality part and will help cooling immensely!

The 170* stat would be ideal for full time use since the 160* stat isn't going to really make my engine run any cooler with the chip I'm currently running.

The only downside I see is hotter oil temps in the summer months with the AC on full with a 170*F stat but thats OK because I want my oil to sometimes reach over 212*F to boil out any water that might get in there.

Comments?? or Part #'s please, Thanks!

I found the bill, but it doesn't say AC Delco, so I might have had them cross it over to another brand. It's been over 2 years, my memory isn't that good.
I will call them tomorrow and find out who this part number belongs to.

I have 170 degree ACdelco as well can't remember the P.N. I can find it out tomorrow if Agent 86 doesn't get to it. What I do remeber is there is no bleed valve so you will still have to drill a small hole, but I don't see a problem with this.

I just installed a new high-volume water pump made by EMP Stewart. Got it from Summit Racing for about $100.00. I'm running the stock thermostat, (what ever that would be) and my temp rarely will go over 185 now. It use to run 180-195 in summer time. I got a 165 degree Hypertech that I was going to install but I figured I will leave it alone for now, since the car never gets to hot. I have a 1988, and it has every option + the heavy duty cooling system...
