power from vanity mirror
Thought I would let you know, I tapped into the wires going to the visor vanity mirror to get power for my radar detector and it worked like a charm. :D I used these wires because they get power only when the switch is on. The map lights on the mirror gets power every time you open the doors. Mounted the detector next to the mirror out of sight from outside the vehicle. Sorry, I don't have any pictures.

I like that method/location, very stealth.
Though I got power from the mirror light that is on when ignition is on, I too mounted my detector under the header just to the left of the mirror.

With my luck, if the man is within 50 miles of me I will get caught. I haven't received many tickets but when I do get caught, it's always a fine, never a warning. :cry

Look out in Texas, They just announced the Hwy Patrol just got radar detectors detectors, Illegal in Texas to use detectors--Besides we ALWAYS just drive the speed limit!! :blueangel:
