Default Remove MAF sensor??

Is this a mod? or will it not just throw the computer into a limp mode?

Paul,
You are aware that your stock MAF sensor sandwiches between these two halfs once you remove the stock halves with screens from the sensor? I may not have understand your question correctly.I got the impression you might have thought these pieces just replace your MAF.
Rick

After reading the advertisement. It is misleading. It should say "restrictive factory mass air flow housing".The Granatelli has a larger open area on the I.D. than the stock housing. The stock housing has a center divider that is missing on the granatelli housing increasing the open area of the MAF for increased flow. The housing inside diameter itself is not actually any larger at the center MAF sensor location, just flared and contoured open larger on the ends. These are basically the same design as the aftermarket granatelli MAF sensors.

I was confused at first, on this one, for sure.

But now I think I get it.

Now, I just do not understand where the improvement comes into play, if the middle is the same size.

But no you have not misled me, I am just trying to figure this conundrum out.

I have a speed density system on my 91 L98, but I would think that this part is not worth the money. My two cents.

Doubt it does anything at all.

The MAFs are very, very sensitive and have a specific calibration loaded into the computer. Technically, even very slight changes in airflow (such as a free-flow filter, different piping, etc) should be re-calibrated to get the most out of the system.
