Interesting that I never noticed the blocked off ram air on my '84.
Can you give me a little more detail on how you unblocked it? Also, did you really notice a difference? Thanks
I have an 84 also, I wanted to hook up the ram air, but my hood has been modified and the inlets to the air intake have been removed, anyone know where to get the parts to rebuild the hood back to original?
I'd not spent any time on this at all... since we're just about to start the motor again for the first time. So, the Corvette (through the hood) is just pulling air through that opening, but only what it can suck through around the hood opening and ... probably from within the engine bay, right?
Can someone tell me why I wouldn't want to cut a hole in the shroud like this and provide more direct air? I mean, other than Hoovering up leaves and rain...
Yup leaves and rain and standing water was the reasoning GM decided to forgo the radiator shroud opening, not wanting to hydrolock the motor. Of course they were basing their decision on the lowest common denominator owner behavior. WE would NEVER consider driving in the rain or through standing water right?

If you'd asked me a year ago, I probably would have said yes. But all the time my daughter has put into this car (and me paying for it), definitely not.
It would be cool though if I could somehow solenoid control it... hahah...
