Default supercharging 84 vette?

I have looked around and no one makes supercharger kits for an 84 vette... Is there any kind of supercharger that can be put on this year? Has anyone done it to theres? Just trying to get some ideas

It can be done.

First off you need to dispose of the stock air cleaner. Then you add two low profile procharger carb bonnets one for each throttle body. Leakage at throttle shaft(s) may occur. Pipe the ducting into a Y which may need to be fabbed up to provide equal boost. That is problematic. That leads to a procharger unit that may be attached to a mounting plate provided by procharger or custom made. I think procharger may have a 350 truck TBI plate that will work. A serpentine belt will need to be located.

You will need a 2 bar MAP sensor. Aftermarket or possibly a typhoon or syclone will work.

The stock ECU will need to be replaced with one that can handle boost dynamicefi.com will provide that.

I have ditched my crossfire induction in total and replaced with a 7.4L TBI unit so that would be an easier application to adapt to.

thanks a lot. Did both of you get rid of the old intake manifold? Where can you find a tbi setup?

I'm still not sold on boosting stock bottom ends. I've broken a forged piston with boost and so I would never do it with cast ones, which I assume you have.

Compression ratio is also an issue. What's the stock CR on a 84 ? It's pretty easy to hit some large effective CR numbers under boost. I would plug the stock specs into a dynamic CR calculator, and then plug that result into a boost indexed, effective CR calculator.

Just something to think about.

Also, you might want to post this in the C4 FI/N2 section.....

My manifold is a Holley Projection TBI.

You are right on compression possibly being too high. A large cam may bleed off some dynamic compression. Are not Vette pistons forged?

I am guessing stock CR is 9.0/1.

E85 might be a possibility but as we know it is corrosive.

Procharger has a chart. 9.0/1 static suggests 19 psi boost MAX with intercooler 14 without. 10.0/1 7psi W/O IC and 12 psi with. That is with aluminum heads and 92 octane.

You assume wrong. The Crossfire came with forged pistons.

The stock compression ratio is rated at 9.0:1. Especially with a little camshaft duration added it is a good CR for forced induction, especially with the forged pistons.

RACE ON!!!
