Default New Brakes-Constant Noise Problem??

I just put on new rotors and pads on my 94 vette...Now the car makes a constant sqealing sound while driving and stops as soon as I hit the brakes.....I also noticed the parking brake seems really tight...Any Ideas what's causing this...Thanks

EDIT UPDATE-Went to brake shop and they told me the pads need time to seat in...everying else looked fine...time will tell

After driving a short distance see if the rear brakes seem much hotter than the fronts; if so check for parking brake drag.

If you put new brakes around, did any of the pistons seem to not move freely?

This suggestion might be sound slightly off base for you problem but it makes some sense. Have you checked the actuating rod adjustment from the booster. It sounds like it might be to long as when you touch the pedal it reacts to quickly. It needs to be about 1/8" clearance. It might also make the parking brake seem to tight which would be a symptom rather than a cause in that case.

I know you would not think of that solution because you did not touch it. But it’s a possibility since you have multiple problems. The squeaking might be cured by a light sanding on the pads. Did you bed them in?

I took the car to a brake shop yeaterday and they told me that that the brake pads need time to seat in...That everything else looked fine..I guess I'll just wait and see what happens..I was told around 300-500 miles and the noise should be gone.

Did you put caliper grease on all the metal-to-metal surfaces like the back of the pads etc.? That may be the sqealing issue. It isn't likely that the noise is coming from the face of the pads. I learned that after replacing pads and turning rotors to try to eliminate the squeal.

If you got rotors made in China, THAT is your cause of squeeling. A friend of mine just went through this. He took the Chinese rotors back to the parts store and told them to give him full credit and to replace them with U.S. rotors or his business was going elsewhere. He got his U.S. rotors and the squeeling stopped.

The rotors are fine..I have the same ones on my Maxima and GTP and they are quiet...I have no clue where they ar made..almost nothing seems to be made in the good ole U.S.A anymore

I'm going to take the pads out after 500 miles if the noise is still there and sand them down

I don't know if they will make the brakes squeal or not but missing anti-rattle clips will make brakes make one hell of a racket.
