Default Stuborn bolt....

1996,
Ok, I'm putting high flow cats on and I have one bolt I can't get to. It's on the right side cat support bracket, on the inside on the cat itself, not the trans bolt at the top.

Any ideas on how to get it out without lowering the transmission? I'm out of ideas here......

I remember that I had to put a jam nut on a couple of the cat studs in order to get mine off.

Thanks, I wish it was that simple. This is a bolt head. The nut is welded onto the bracket that supports the cat. I'm thinking sawzall!

Get a "Dremil tool" in there and cut it off?

I also have a 96. I've been in there and my vote goes to lowering the transmission for better access. It will probably save you time in the end.

I knew a guy (clown) who remodelled several rooms in his house using only a Sawzall. Didn't look too good.

Only teasing Mike, carpenters use the sawzall, mechanics use a die grinder with cut off wheel, both work well.

Lets see a picture when you are finished.

I know so was I.

That reminds me....I was looking at a Ingersoll Rand die grinder kit. About 80 bucks. Ok for occasional use?

That is one where I think you can get by fine with the HF cheapy, I have one that is probably 10 years old and still works fine, think it was less than $20!

And you can pick up a $6.99 3" high speed air cutter. Here is a link for a 20% off ANY item that lasts until this Sunday the 21st. http://www.harborfreightusa.com/usa/...&r=3761_370607

The air tools at Harbor Freight are actually pretty good. Only my impact and 3/8 air ratchet are not HF, the rest are. And if any of them ever break, bring your receipt, or if it's past the warranty, most stores will replace it if you say you bought it recently and lost the receipt.

Thanks for the info guys!
I was only looking at the kit because of the case included and some attachments also. I'll check out the HF ones though.

This one.....
