I am in need of a set of shorty headers for my 93 LT-1. I would like to know which ones you people are using. Also let me know what your likes & dislikes, if any with the headers you have. I know the long tubes will perform better, But I'm subject to emissions testing here in Illinois. I am also going to run Random Tech catalytic coverters. :flag
I hope it only because you like the look????
There is very little if any performance to be gain from this mod.
I had the SLP shorties Fit and finish were great but that it :(
It all depends on how modified your vette is. The more power your car produces, the more they will help. Personally, I like the LPE/hooker shorties. They go for around $500, ceramic coated and ready to bolt on.

Isn't that true with any mod that would control air flow eather into or out of and internal combustion motor??????????????
Since we are talking about shorty headers............ I have a stock L98 that I would like to but a pair for or long tube headers for like hookers or someone else. And to make a long story short, I'm looking at buying the Super Comp headers but the $$$ is tight right now and have been looking at a cheaper set of headers (like the shorts from another brand/or the same) but which one would give the best torque or performance. I guess it being a stock motor you wouldn't be able to tell.....?
I may have a set of shorites up for sale soon. I'm in the market for a set of Long Tubes for my 92. I have to deal with emissions also but it can be done legally as long as the headers have all the air hook ups and by using Randon Tech universal slip fit cats. Like everyone else $$$ is tight, as soon as I can find a deal on the Long Tubes and install them the shorties will be for sale.
The best advice is to go with the Hooker 2149 long tubes. They have all the fittings for emissions stuff (AIR & EGR). If you have a manual transmission there is plenty of room for cats after the headers. I don't know about automatics. I just installed the 2151's with no emissions stuff on my 95. I don't have cats right now but I am thinking of adding them. I have plenty of room for aftermarket cats although the stock units are way to bulky to fit. I have been told to expect 30 rwhp from my long tubes and never had anyone other than a manufacturer claim more than 10 hp. The only thing shorties will get you is a weight savings over the stock cast iron.
