Fired up my '96 LT4 yesterday at 3 degrees (burr)to go to work and after letting it run for few minutes, noticed that the oil temp display number was replaced with a blinking "545". In a few moments, oil temp was back, but then the blinking 545 process repeated itself throughout a 20-minute drive.
On the trip back home last night, it was the same - and BTW did the same antic on coolant temp and battery voltage. I'm told this can mean the battery is going south, but that hardly seems reasonable since the car fired perfectly at such a cold temperature. I'm told a bad aftermarket radio install can create this display, but mine is the stock Bose unit.
One oddity... I noticed that the voltage was wandering from 11.4 to almost 15 volts over the course of every fifteen seconds or so, and never settled down to any fixed voltage.

It's "SYS"
Battery is on it's way out based on what you are describing.
