Wowsie !! That'll be fun when its done.....

Let your friend know that I think he'll be okay with a Dana 36..... they're good and tough. But, he might want to gear it up so it feels quicker on the street.

Holy crap

I know from experience with only 520 ftlbs of torque that a motor like that will tear a C4 apart in stock form. That motor will require a full roll cage for structural support, a built Turbo 400, and a solid rear so yes, his work is cut out for him. It will be INSANE when done though

Is is going to be a street car or just strip?

I think the first time that motor is torques over good the roof would pop about 60 ft in the air.

Keep us posted on the rest, sounds like fun regardless.

John Meaney's car put's out 1,200lb-ft
Just a 4pt cage.

(text no, pics)

"The C4 and C5 Corvettes are the only, basically-stock road cars that will accept this kind of power and act reasonably stable," Meaney told PHR. "I rode around in many of John Lingenfelter's cars that responded really well to crazy amounts of power, so I knew if I was going to take on any project that would have record power on the street for a reasonable price, it would have to be Corvette based. It really is a tribute, to the General Motors engineers who originally created these vehicles. The suspension is very compliant, and compliance is what you're looking for when you try to lay down sick power from a rolling start. You don't want to end up in a ditch."

At least he has the right attitude, I don't think that he will get enough traction to break the rear but if he puts slicks on ....look out. Mine is just a street car and the tires break loose all the time so I don't break anything. If he is worried about every tenth then he will want traction but if it is just for kicks he will be fine.

If he is going to push the time at the track then he may be better off selling the rear complete and intact now and putting that $$$ towards a solid now. It will be worth much more now then later

Just a thought
