Default Need a Los Angeles Engine Builder Source

I am looking on installing new heads and cam at a minimum and would like to hear if there are any recommendations for engine builders here in LA. I've given up on my current mechanic and I'm out of options.

Also are there any other interim mods you would suggest (please check my sig), I'm an autox guy not drag strip. Of course qtr mile doesn't hurt :D

Thanks

Yellow95, thanks for the info. I'll call them Monday.

For those of you on the LA area had a couple of guys refer Cliff and John at C&J's (562) 946 1388 for working the wrench and Steve at Eclipse Engineering for the tuning (562) 696 1209. Spoke with both of these guys and they sound like they definitely have their act together. I'll let you know how it goes, I'm looking forward to the build.

Hey Scooby, I used to live down the street from you in PVE! I'd recommend just driving to Exotic Muscle in Tempe and having a RT ticket with Southwest and just leave your car with them for a week or so. Check out their web-site at http://www.exoticmuscle.com or call Merle at 480-967-4222. They have a ton of experience on these vehicles and won't mess up your ride. I'm very familiar with the L.A. area and the only other vette shops I can think of are: Guildstrand engineering in Burbank; 818-558-1499, and the corvette shop in San Diego; 858-277-8388. But all in all I'd still take the drive to Tempe.

Best of Luck!!! :) :) :)

Scooby, I live at the bottom of your hill in Torrance .

I highly recommend Jim Grubbs Motorsports
28130 Avenue Crocker. Valencia, CA. 91355
(661) 257-0101.
(right by Magic Mountain)

Jim and his guys are outstanding. They are all about attention to detail and precision. All head and block work is done in-house, crank work is farmed out.
They were recommended to me by Guy at Air Flow Research, and they were the only shop he would recommend.
They have all the correct jigs to do a true blueprint, and they know how to use the jigs correctly. I thought I knew everything about blueprinting, but Jim taught me a few more things.
Grubbs is actually well known to auto restorers. When I visited his shop he was rebuilding TWO of those ultra-rare Ford 427 SOHC V8s from the '60s. On a return visit I fiddled with some interesting parts on a cart - my buddy and I couldn't figure out what the heck used a water cooled, horizontally opposed, 6 cylinder, aluminum engine - turned out it was from a Tucker, shipped out from a restorer in Florida. I about had a heart attack to know I had put my fingers on one of only 50 motors ever made! What if I had knocked something over? I'd still be paying for it!
Anyway, you can take a chance with the unknown, or you can go with the best.

Good luck.
