SMOG Pump Bracket Alignment
I just got an '87 cv from my dad. He had it for about 16 years but hardly ever drove it. I drove it from Indiana to Texas and it did fine but when I got it here the serpentine belt starting squeeking. At first I thought it was the smog pump but I replace it and it stil squeeked. I got a little smarter the second time and found a trick of spraying the underside of the belt with water to see if the squeek went away temporarily, which would indicate a misaligned pulley. Sure enough the squeek stopped and I checked all the pulleys and found the smog pump pulley way out of alignment. It's strange because the smog pump bracket seems to fit just fine but you can tell just by looking at the pump it's way out of alignment. The only thing I can figure is that the bracket is bent. (Another mystery is why it just starting squeeking after driving it 1100 miles.) I was wondering if anyone happen to have the bracket on their '87 or similar off and could post pictures of it from several angles so I could check my bracket. Or if anyone else has suggestions....
