Got to put some brakes on my 88. What is your opinion on speed bleeders vrs a heavy duty vacum bleeder from Ecklers? I am getting braided hoses, premium rotors and semi metallic pads. Limited budget. What are your thoughts? Thanks in advanced for your advise.

I have no direct experience with the vacuum bleeder but I have using Speedbleeders on my track driven(i.e. track bled between sessions) LT1 for 5 years and these things are great. Easy one man bleeding operation, fast, hard pedal, leakfree, it does not get any better. Be sure to get the bleeder bag.

Interesting. My car came w speed bleeders (I did not buy/install them).

What is a bleeder bag, and where do I get one/them?

Sid04 I don't have much experience with brakes and bleeding of. I am assuming the vacum lets you bleed from out side.? With the speed bleed, since it has check valve do you just pump pedal and keep fluid in master cylinder unitl new fluid reaches caliper. More detail please. Thanks for the input.

I love the Speed Bleeders! Some of the best money I have spent on my car.

It's just plastic bag with a nipple on it a 1/4 hose connects to. The other end connects to the speed bleader. No mess, no hasle.

You can find the on the Speed Bleeder website I think.

The speed bleeders are nice. They have a one way check valve that will let fluid out and will close back up to prevent air from going into the system. This along with a pressure bleeder works great.

All you need to do with the Speedbleeders is crack the bleeder, attach the bleeder bag, 6-8 half strokes, tighten bleed screw, done.

Thanks gents. Ordered all parts today including the speed bleeder bag. All parts from Eckler with shipping ran $506.00. Speed bleed bag was about $15.00. Sould I get a caliper rebuild kit also? Suggestions welcomed.

I would not bother. I have never had the piston seal go bad on mine and I have literally melted the calipers twice at Laguna Seca. All the replacements I have seen are Chinese, so who knows how good those are. If you do choose to replace them, use a toothpick to remove the old ones.

Been using "Speed Bleeders" for four years. They make a bleed a one man job. They're cheap, easy to install and easy to use.
