I recently purchased a 1990 vette this summer. The AC blew cold (seller said he recently had the system flushed and recharged), but it had no heat. Once winter rolled around (I live in NJ) I found out that it was a problem with the temp control door. I remove the control module and had a friend set the car to 90 degrees and gently pushed the door to the opposite side. It DID move on its own, but very slowly and got stuck in a few spots. I now have heat, but the AC doesn't work. As I said, the motor for the door seemed to work (although not well), so I'm wondering if there is possibly a bad vacuum seal somewhere. I'm not quite sure where to start looking. Any ideas?
King Killer, have a look at the programmer. It is located on the interior firewall, behind the brake pedal, next to the steering column.
It will be tricky but once you get it, open it and examine the circuit board. You might find loose solder on two particular resistors.
Let us know what you find.
RWR, I'm not real real sure how it is on the '90, but look under/behind/near the coolant expansion tank. (passenger side of engine bay)
Is there a wire harness going to a module like this??
(this is an '89 model -which are different-)
