The EGR valve is operated by vac that comes from the EGR solenoid.
If the EGR valve itself is working properly it is closed with no vac , so you can just delete the EGR solenoid and plug the vac line that feeds it.

The single wire that is coming from the EGR valve is the temp sensor plug which is a single pin Weatherpak and will come off of the drivers side injector harness if I recall. If you don't have an EGR solenoid and an smog pump or anything else for that matter you could just get an EGR block off plate from most of the hot rod guys like Street & Performance or probably Accell too and just delete it altogether. If you do that you will get an EGR code but that can be turned off with a custom prom so it's really not a problem. I actually turned my EGR off in my wife's near stock 85 and it runs great and still passes smog with flying colors. If you're running the car with no IAT hooked up I'm certain it won't run too good as inlet temp is critical for ECM fueling calculations.

That is the EGR temp sensor mounted on the EGR crossover pipe at the rear pass side.
The 2 wire connector is for the EGR control solenoid mounted under the plenum at front .
The EGR valve itself is on the intake under the plenum and has only a vac line to it, no elec connnection

Ok Well I have ordered the wiring harness for the IAT sensor so that will probably help my motor run better. Its running ok right now but when I get on the gas heavy it gets too much air and not enough fuel. I guess that the IAT sensor hooked up and the MAF on it should fix it.

His car is an `85 if I'm reading his profile correctly so there is no external exhaust crossover tube like an 86L-91. The EGR temp sensor is on the base of the EGR valve on the 84-86E CFI's & L98's. There is of course the vacuum line that would have to be plugged though.
