Default Valve Cover gaskets

A little help please.

I have an oil leak on one of my valve covers. I ordered the FelPro set from Autozone and they came in today but they don't look anything like the ones that are on there right now.

The orange one is what's currently in and the grey one is the new one. I double checked the FelPro number and it is for a 92-96 LT1. The ones that are currently on fit right into a groove on the valve cover. The new ones don't.

Anybody familiar with this?

Thanks

Looks like the gaskets you recieved are for the 94-96 composite covers. You need the early gaskets for the steel covers.

I was thinking that might be the case but the FelPro site lists this number as good for 92-96.

The 92 covers are Magnesium but I'm using Spectre chrome covers. The old orange gaskets fit perfectly into the aftermarket cover.

I'm confusing myself. I'm not sure on the Corvette valve cover gaskets. But, the F-body LT1 has the gaskets you are looking for.

Had the same problem with the gaskets for my 92, at the time I did a search and someone listed the CORRECT felpro part number.
The Felpro part VS 50088R, I think I got them at Autozone or one of the other auto parts places. It comes with two gaskets in the box. They are Blue not orange, and they work perfectly!

Yep.
I just found them after searching a little more. Seems that the early LT1's are different than the later LT1's but FelPro doesn't show that on their website. It listed the part I ordered as good for all LT1's.

Thanks
